SICK expands logistics stack with Coriva RTLS

SICK is pushing real-time localisation deeper into warehouse operations today. Its new Coriva platform adds omlox-certified UWB tracking as asset visibility becomes a more serious operational requirement.

SICK has expanded its digital logistics offer with Coriva, a real-time localisation system designed to track vehicles, materials, workpieces, and other mobile assets across industrial sites where visibility is increasingly tied to throughput, security, and error reduction.

Coriva is based on ultra-wideband and is certified to the omlox locating standard, which means it is built around an open industrial interface rather than a fully closed vendor environment. The system combines mobile tags, fixed infrastructure, and a localisation engine to calculate asset position in real time, then forward that data through standardised interfaces for fleet management, goods flow monitoring, and traceability tasks.

That open-standard angle is more than a specification detail. Omlox is designed to let manufacturers and logistics operators combine UWB-based positioning with other location technologies through a common hub architecture, which reduces the risk of one more isolated software island appearing inside an already crowded OT and IT landscape. SICK is also linking Coriva into its wider software layer through CorivaHub and the Sentio IIoT platform, allowing users to work on-premise or in the cloud and connect additional technologies including RFID, GNSS, WPAN, and LiDAR.

The result is a broader shift in what sensor suppliers are trying to sell into logistics. Basic detection and identification are still necessary, but location data is now being treated as a live operational layer that can feed everything from materials handling and security to dwell-time analysis and process control. SICK’s pitch is that the company can supply that stack as a connected architecture, rather than as a set of unrelated point products.

For operators dealing with larger sites, denser automation, and tighter service expectations, that is a sensible direction. The harder question is no longer whether assets can be tracked, but whether the tracking data is open, accurate, and usable enough to support decisions at scale.
