Ned Marine takes aluminium production quayside

Ned Marine Alucon has moved aluminium production onto Rotterdam’s waterfront. The rebranded operation is now based at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam, giving its certified gangway, bridge, access, and cruise window wash systems direct quayside access.

Ned Marine has relocated and rebranded its aluminium manufacturing division to a new production facility at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam, placing the operation directly alongside quayside activity in the Botlek area.

The division, previously known as MTQ Products, now operates as Ned Marine Alucon. It designs and manufactures certified aluminium gangways, bridges, cruise vessel window wash systems, and access structures for maritime, offshore, and civil engineering applications.

The move from Dordrecht to Damen’s Rotterdam repair and conversion yard places the business closer to seagoing vessels and offshore units calling at one of Europe’s major maritime clusters. Container vessels, cruise ships, platforms, barges, and rigs are among the vessel types regularly handled at the yard.

Direct quayside access changes the practical service model for specialist aluminium access equipment. Site assessment, manufacturing coordination, delivery, and support can all be handled closer to the vessel, particularly on projects where standard off-the-shelf structures are not suitable.

Ned Marine Alucon will operate as an integrated OEM production facility, with design, engineering, manufacturing, and documentation handled in-house. Its product range includes aluminium gangways, window wash systems for cruise vessels, civil bridges, and specialised MK4 bridge parts used between offshore rigs.

Leo Zwagemaker, Commercial Manager Ned Marine, said: “This is a logical next step for Ned Marine Alucon. Moving to Damen’s repair and conversion yard in the Botlek puts us right where our seagoing clients need us. From this location we bring our full manufacturing capability to bear on projects that require more than a standard off-the-shelf solution.”

The facility will supply full documentation for products that require certification by classification societies or other regulatory bodies. Where certification is not required, Ned Marine Alucon said it will apply the same quality guarantee used for its certified gangways and bridges.

The Rotterdam site also strengthens the company’s position in offshore and ocean-going vessel work without removing support for inland shipping. Ned Marine Alucon’s inland navigation customers will continue to be served through the new facility and the company’s headquarters and warehouse in Ridderkerk.

Zwagemaker added: “Meanwhile our inland navigation clients can now be served from both our headquarters and warehouse in Ridderkerk and this new facility.”

The relocation gives Ned Marine Alucon a manufacturing base closer to the vessels and offshore assets using its products, while keeping design, fabrication, documentation, and project support inside one operation.
