Dawn Foods UK and Ireland has launched a dessert-flavour-inspired ready-to-use Black Forest Frosting, continuing its strategy to help bakers turn the “ordinary into extraordinary” with limited edition bakery ingredients.

Positioned for retro hybrid sweet bakes, currently one of the biggest trends in bakery, the new Black Forest Frosting follows Dawn’s other dessert inspired ingredient – a limited-edition Peach Melba Frosting which was launched this summer.

Just like the 1970s dinner party dessert classic, Dawn’s Black Forest Frosting combines all the flavours of indulgent Black Forest Gateau- rich chocolate along with the tartness of brandy infused black cherries.

The frosting has a unique red chocolate hue too which gives stand out appeal on shelf – for eye catching Autumn/Winter and even Halloween themed bakes.

The product uses Dawn’s quality frosting as its base so not only is it soft and fluffy, but it holds its form and shape too. It is ideal for decorating cupcakes, filling donuts, or layering cakes and is freeze/thaw stable too for increased versatility.

The frosting is made with natural colours and flavours, as well as segregated palm oil.

According to Dawn, dessert flavours, particularly those with a retro twist are currently one of the biggest trends across food and drink.

“Bakers can tune into the trend for format and flavour ‘mash ups’ by using limited edition ingredients. Using a Black Forest Frosting instantly transforms a plain cupcake into a premium ’70s revival themed bake with instant sales potential,” explains Jacqui Passmore, marketing lead West EU & AMEAP at Dawn Foods.
