APM brings labour-saving packing automation to Hillhead 2026

APM, part of the Autopack Group, will showcase its labour-saving packing technology at Hillhead 2026, demonstrating how its solutions support high-volume quarrying operations while addressing labour shortages, rising costs and health and safety challenges.

On stand RD2 at Hillhead 2026, APM will showcase its AP-4000 Integral Air Packer. The machine can pack 5kg to 25kg valve sacks and is designed specifically for high-volume, dusty and abrasive environments, integrating seamlessly into automated lines to help quarries move away from labour-intensive processes.

APM supports bulk material producers with robust, automated systems designed to handle abrasive products such as aggregates, sand, limestone and recycled materials. Its technology ensures accurate, repeatable filling, reduces product giveaway and improves efficiency without increasing headcount. Systems can be scaled and integrated with conveying, palletising and full line solutions.

“We start by understanding the problems our customers need solving,” said APM director Shaun Davies. “Quarrying businesses are under pressure from labour shortages, cost increases and health and safety demands. Our machines reduce manual handling, improve consistency and increase throughput, helping operators run more efficiently with fewer people.”

Hillhead runs from 23-25 June and takes place every two years in a working Derbyshire quarry in Buxton. The show brings together 600 exhibitors and nearly 20,000 visitors, making it the UK’s largest quarrying, construction, and recycling equipment exhibition.

APM’s flexible approach enables it to deliver everything from standalone machines to full turnkey packing lines, all supported by installation, training and aftersales service.

“The AP-4000 reduces labour dependency and transforms multi-operator packing lines into a streamlined, automated operation,” Shaun Davies concluded. “Built for harsh environments, it delivers reliable, repeatable performance and we look forward to showcasing the machine and our smart packing solutions for modern quarrying at Hillhead on stand RD2.”

APM was acquired by the Autopack Group in September 2025, strengthening the group’s capabilities in flexible packaging alongside its established presence in sectors including food, drink, chemical, cleaning and personal care.
