Amcor develops bespoke closure for Choví sauces

Amcor has developed a bespoke flip-top closure for Choví sauces. The polypropylene design combines a silicone valve, bi-injection construction and curved profile, with manufacturing carried out in Spain.

Amcor (NYSE: AMCR, ASX: AMC), a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions, has developed a new customised flip top closure for Spanish sauce brand Choví. The development enhances the packaging’s functionality, to further optimise the consumer’s experience with the brand.

Choví was founded in 1953 and is one of the most popular sauce brands in Spain. Already a long-standing customer of Amcor, the company selected Amcor for this new project off the back of its strong reputation in closures, as well as its Spanish manufacturing facility. The new closure is being used on Choví’s product range of sauces for salads, barbecues and snacks. Flavours include La Brava, Allioli, Cheddar, Kebab White, Ajonesa, Barbacoa, Ketchup, César, Yogur and Miel y Mostaza.

The bespoke bicolour closure incorporates a silicone valve designed to control the flow of the sauce as it is dispensed from the bottle. The bi-injection closure has been made entirely from polypropylene and its innovative curved shape helps the packs stand out on shelf while also boosting functionality. The optimal user experience is further enhanced by the closure’s robustness.

“We have created this unique closure to appeal to the consumer in a variety of ways,” said Amcor Sales Director Mirko Todeschi. “It is a fresh and exciting look for Choví, delivering shelf differentiation against rival sauce brands. Ease of use was key to the design, allowing the user to pour the sauce in a controlled way. In addition, our collaborative approach enabled on-time turnaround and fast delivery.”

David Moya Aparicio, Logistics and Purchasing Manager at Grupo Choví added: “Amcor is a trusted partner of ours and the company has delivered a flip top closure that enhances the user experience. A consumer’s first interaction after purchase will be with the closure and it was critical that this flip top version worked smoothly. Amcor has delivered and with its local knowledge and manufacturing capabilities, we are proud to say that this innovation is made in Spain for a Spanish brand.”
