element14, an Avnet Community, and 3M are hosting two upcoming webinars on the latest developments in machine vision systems. The webinars will also cover their cable assemblies as well as reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise, signaling crosstalk and boosting the signal-to-noise ratio.

The first webinar, titled Optimizing Machine Vision Performance and Reliability with Cable Assemblies, takes place on 24 June from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM GMT. Industry expert David Nyberg from 3M will share his personal insights on how to improve the performance, robustness and reliability of machine vision systems.

The webinar will cover the following topics:

  • USB3 Vision cables: Selecting the right length for stationary use and repetitive motion
  • Camera Link cables: The wide variety of options for applications requiring mid-range data rates and system costs including MDR, SDR, PoCL in various configurations
  • CoaXPress cables: Meeting CoaXPress output configuration standards CSP-6 and CSP-12, plus standard and high-performance, flexible cable assemblies

The second webinar, titled EMI Reduction Techniques for the Engineer, takes place on 2 July from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM GMT. It will give attendees a comprehensive understanding of EMI challenges and equip them with the knowledge to effectively mitigate these issues.

The webinar will provide:

  • A brief primer on EMI/RFI, the causes and why minimizing them is important for maintaining signal integrity.
  • How to qualify electromagnetic fields under specific criteria and test methods.
  • A demonstration of an EM stripline test, showing an EM signal being suppressed by EMI absorbing material.
  • Plus, a demonstration of an EM inter-decoupling test showing the intensity of an EM field before and after being blocked by the insertion of FFDM material.
