LG’s PADO takes a stab at AI-enabled energy management for data centres

LG Electronics has unveiled PADO AI Orchestration (PADO), a new venture focusing on energy management for data centres, commercial and industrial facilities, and microgrids.
PADO is designed to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to orchestrate power, grid services and distributed energy resources (DERs), to enable organisations to increase profitability, enhance resilience and improve operational efficiency. PADO is the latest venture backed by LG NOVA, LG Electronics’ North American Innovation Center.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), data centres globally consume an estimated 1-1.5% of the world’s total electricity, a figure that is projected to rise to 4% through 2027. PADO is intended to address this need with an AI and ML-powered “energy orchestration platform” for real-time analysis, rules-based optimisation and active energy planning.

“The energy landscape is rapidly changing, especially with the rise of AI. It’s crucial that businesses understand these impacts and proactively manage their energy consumption, mitigate risks and improve operational efficiencies,” said Wannie Park, CEO of PADO AI Orchestration.
“PADO’s goal is designed to empower them to do just that, providing the intelligence and control needed to improve energy usage and build a more resilient future.”
The platform’s core features are designed to offer:
- Real-time analysis with AI/ML driven recommendations,
- Load and price forecasting and ROI analysis,
- Enhancement of DERs and acceleration of grid services,
- Data and functionality sharing with third parties via open API, and
- Carbon credit & ESG reporting for corporate requirements
