Enagás, the Spanish gas TSO, has launched the Enagás Corporate University (UCE) at its headquarters in Madrid to develop the new skills for the energy transition.

The Enagás Corporate University is intended to promote a culture of continuous learning in an environment for professional growth that fosters the knowledge and skills necessary to face Enagás’ future challenges.

Among these is the development of knowledge aligned with the sector and the management of the hydrogen network in Spain.

To this end the UCE expects to collaborate with Enagás’ Hydrogen Technology Observatory, which was launched in April 2024 to advance the development of hydrogen and counts almost 50 partners across the value chain, in managing knowledge related to this vector.

“The UCE will help us promote the development of talent among Enagás professionals, transmit a culture aligned with the organisation’s strategy, promote leadership and manage the company’s knowledge,” said Enagás CEO Arturo Gonzalo at the launch.

“We are talking about all the accumulated knowledge in gas infrastructure management and the new areas that are opening up with decarbonisation, i.e. hydrogen, CO2, liquid natural gas bioLNG bunkering, renewable hydrogen for mobility and renewable ammonia.

The focus of the UCE will be on experiential learning and AI, in addition to promoting the upskilling and reskilling of staff.

It is structured into three institutes by areas of knowledge, corporate, technical and leadership.

It also encompasses several facilities and in addition to the main headquarters in Madrid, includes the technical training centre in the Madrid municipality of San Fernando and another focused on R&D in Zaragoza.

The UCE will continue the work of the Enagás training school, which opened its doors 16 years ago and has provided around 75,000 training hours per year, access to more than 25,000 content options, and agreements with international educational centres and business schools.

Enagás reports its training is accredited by the Learning and Performance Institute, a global organisation focused on workplace learning and development.
