Ohly has expanded its X-SEED product line with new nutritional supplements designed to boost enzyme production.

Industrial enzyme production revolves around finding cost-effective ways to maximise enzyme activity, productivity and yield. With evolving legislative standards and consumer awareness, producers are turning towards more sustainable formulations too.

Ohly has a long and distinguished history in fermentation and extraction technology. They are expert at identifying the nutrient requirements of various microorganisms and, as a result, Ohly’s yeast-based X-SEED bionutrients are powerful tools for the biotechnology industry to achieve high productivity in fermentation processes.

Ohly’s new X-SEED nutrients offer enzyme producers more flexible nutritional options tailored to each production host’s specific requirements.

X-SEED KAT Advanced, X-SEED KAT Plus and X-SEED Carbo Peptone act as a primary or secondary source of nitrogen to help maximise enzyme titres, increase specific activity and facilitate downstream processing. These new X-SEED products are the result of a three-year collaboration with some of Ohly’s key customers.

Ohly has applied their extensive experience and specialist expertise, as well as significant investment, to develop these products
specifically aimed at enhancing enzyme, probiotics and cultures production.

Abhishek Somani, bionutrients business development manager explained that during development, its fermentation specialists worked alongside biochemists, process engineers, formulation specialists and microbiologists to conduct lab scale investigations before progressing to pilot stage.

“After a series of customer trials with multiple prototypes, we have successfully refined and tailored the nutrients to
reliably optimise product yields, process productivity and overall outputs for each production host’s specific requirements,” Somani said.

Following the success of this project, Ohly has more concepts in the pipeline as they continue to identify more product categories and strategic partners where they could bring additional value with their specialist expertise. Find out more at www.ohly.com/bionutrients
