British shoppers can find fresh alternatives to their favourite classics like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay through Asda’s great value range.

The retailers has introduced three whites, two rosés and a red from the likes of Romania, Greece, Corsica and Portugal, all just £7 and under.

With summer in full swing and holiday inspiration all around, Asda’s newly launched Wine Atlas range is created to encourage Brits to broaden their wine horizons by discovering new favourites from lesser-known regions.

For example, for those who like Chardonnay, try the Wine Atlas Carricante (£6.50). This citrus, peach and orange blossom-flavoured wine from Sicily’s volcanic slopes is an adventurous alternative to a classic Chardonnay.

For Sauvignon Blanc, the Wine Atlas Sauvignon Blanc Rhoditis (7.00) is a refreshing green apple and citrus white wine from Greece. Here the popular grape Sauvignon Blanc meets Greek native ‘Rhoditis’ for a fruity combination that’s perfect for a summer’s day.

Fuller-bodied rosés like Bandol, the Wine Atlas Monastrell Rosado (£6.50) is a darker, fuller-bodied rosé, fruity raspberry and herb flavoured rosé from South-East Spain.

For Pinot Noir lovers, the Wine Atlas Jaen (£7.00) the Portuguese Jaen is the way to go with its juicy red cherry, raspberry and graphite flavours.

Pinot Grigio drinkers can try the Wine Atlas Feteascâ Regalâ (£6.00). Romanian wine is becoming increasingly accessible in the UK but many are still unaware of its striking quality. Fans of pinot grigio should try this spicy peach and tropical fruit-filled Feteascâ Regalâ.

For Provence rosé, try the Wine Atlas Île de Beauté Corsican Rosé (£7.00). An iconic wine region in France, Provence is home to many of our favourite rosés, but for those who fancy branching out, Corsican rosé from the ‘Isle of Beauty’ is sure to be a hit with its delicate apple blossom scent.

James Yelland, senior manager for wine buying at Asda noted how exploring new wines and discovering fresh favourites “shouldn’t have to come with a hefty price tag”.

“At £7 and under, the six Wine Atlas wines all combine impressive quality and great value,” he said. “As some people aren’t quite sure where to start when it comes to trying new wines, we’ve shared a selection of ‘Discovery Dupes’ to help shoppers align their current tastes with potential new favourites, so shoppers can impress friends and family with their ahead-of-the-curve tastes.”
