The humorous plant-based functional drink company G Spot, which was co-founded by the well-known actress Gillian Anderson, has reached a significant milestone in its 20-month journey by securing its first supermarket listing with Sainsbury’s.

From January, shoppers across the UK will find G Spot’s sparkling canned beverages in over 300 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide and online.

Three SKUs, Lift, Soothe, and Protect, will be available to purchase at Sainsbury’s, each crafted to align with the growing consumer demand for functional, health-focused beverages that don’t compromise on taste.

All three SKUs are available in single 250ml cans (£2) in the chilled section at the front of stores, with Lift and Soothe soon available in 4x250ml multipacks (£6.50) from January 26 in the ambient soft drinks section at the back of stores. As a New Year’s treat for Nectar Card users, for a limited time, the G Spot single cans will be available at £1.40 until January 25th.

“It’s now easier than ever for people to get a taste of what G Spot is all about bold, refreshing and unapologetically good for you” shared Gillian Anderson, co-founder of G Spot. “It’s 2025 and with this milestone, we’re beginning the year as we mean to go on. With our adaptogen and nootropic-enhanced drinks you never have to compromise taste and health go hand in hand. Or as we like to say, G Spot brings indulgence and wellness together in every sip.”

Anderson co-founded G Spot because she was drinking multiple cans of Coca-Cola a day and wanted to find a healthy alternative to the high-sugar, caffeinated drinks that didn’t compromise on taste. Made with only natural ingredients, G Spot is wellness with a wink boosted with adaptogens and nootropics. Each SKU is made in the UK with only natural ingredients caffeine free, low in calories, and with no artificial sweeteners. The three SKUs available in Sainsbury’s are:

Lift, Red Berries & Sarawak a blend of berries, apples and peppercorn infused with Bacopa, Theanine and Cordyceps.

Soothe, Scarlet Apple & Sage this Great Taste Award winning drink is a combination of apples, sage, and angelica and contains Magnesium, Maca, Reishi, and Ashwagandha.

Protect, Ginger & Peppercorn a mix of lemon, meadowsweet, ginger, lemon, and turmeric for a comforting yet invigorating taste profile. The hint of peppercorn and addition of Chaga adds to its flavour.

The launch of G Spot in Sainsbury’s follows the brand’s investment from Dutch brewing major Heineken and recent expansion into the US in October, where the functional beverage market has jumped 54% to $9.2bn between March 2020 and March 2024 according to NielsenIQ.

The growth in functional drinks has seen Walmart, the number 1 retailer in the US, introduce a brand new category for ‘better for you’ beverages.
