MM Packaging bolsters GreenPeel division with new appointment

MM Packaging has appointed Jonathan Craddock to drive GreenPeel growth. The move underlines a strategic UK push to help food manufacturers cut plastic use while maintaining shelf-life, line efficiency, and compliance with tightening packaging regulation.

MM Packaging, Europe’s largest producer of cartonboard and folding cartons, has appointed Jonathan Craddock as Business Development Manager for its GreenPeel division. The move signals a major strategic push to support UK food manufacturers in meeting demanding plastic reduction targets without compromising on shelf-life or production efficiency.

Jonathan Craddock, a seasoned business development professional with experience in fibre-based packaging, joins MM Packaging from Allpack, where he held senior commercial roles, including Key Account Manager. He brings extensive expertise in helping companies transition to sustainable packaging alternatives.

In his new position, Jonathan will lead the UK expansion of GreenPeel, a sustainable tray solution designed to replace rigid plastic formats in the chilled food, fresh protein, and ready meal sectors. Its lightweight, fibre-based construction uses up to 90% less plastic and features a robust design and continuous rim for seamless integration into standard packaging and sealing processes.

“MM Packaging is a global leader with unmatched scale and sustainability credentials, and I am proud to be part of the team,” said Jonathan Craddock. “My aim in this new role is to demonstrate how GreenPeel offers a commercially viable route to more sustainable packaging, whilst navigating the UK Plastic Packaging Tax and impending EPR legislation.”

GreenPeel is available in standard and customised sizes and is compatible with skin and modified atmosphere packaging. EVOH barriers ensure food safety, while printing options allow brands to create appealing, consumer-focused designs.

Jonathan added: “Retailers and manufacturers are under immense pressure to remove plastic whilst maintaining margins, but they cannot afford to sacrifice food safety or increase food waste. Fibre-based solutions are coming to the fore thanks to their strong recycling performance, and MM Packaging is well placed to serve food manufacturers across the board.”

A philosophy graduate, Jonathan’s career extends beyond the corporate sector having held development management roles in the arts, including at Lichfield Garrick Theatre, where he managed sponsorship and community engagement.
