INNIO Group launches US joint venture to tap flexible power solutions market

INNIO Group has announced that a joint venture has been established in the US with Gföllner Group to meet the rising demand for decentralised, flexible power solutions that are quick to deploy.

Austrian technical container solutions firm Gföllner Group will provide the containers for INNIO’s Jenbacher gas engines, which together will provide a modular energy solution capable of delivering over 1GW of output annually.

The container modules will be manufactured in Trenton, New Jersey with work scheduled to begin by the end of 2025.

The new company is called IGPS (INNIO Gfoellner Power Systems LLC) in which INNIO will hold a majority stake.

Dr Olaf Berlien, president and CEO of INNIO Group, commented in a statement: “This joint venture is another important step forward on our growth path. With decentralized plug-and-play energy solutions, we are the ideal partner to help meet the rapidly growing energy demands of the US.”

Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Karl Pühretmair, owner and CEO at Gföllner Group, added: “This joint venture supports the expansion of North America’s energy infrastructure through decentralized container systems.”

In the coming years, INNIO plans to expand its US workforce by around 50% percent.
