Farnell is proud to acknowledge a significant milestone for one of its key suppliers, Weller Tools. A leading hand soldering provider celebrates 80 years of innovation led by German engineering based near Stuttgart.  Weller continues to with excellence in consistently setting industry standards for precision, reliability and performance with their soldering and accompanying fume extraction and accessories ranges.

As part of its celebrations, Weller is introducing a special new black edition of its WE1010 soldering station and the new ZeroSmog Shield fume extraction system in keeping with eight decades of innovation and progress in soldering solutions for both enthusiasts and professionals.

The WE1010 Black Edition delivers the same trusted performance and user-friendly operation as the original WE1010 but features a sleek, commemorative black design and 80th anniversary logo. The black design is a nod to the original Weller devices, which were initially made of black Bakelite before later switching to ESD-safe plastics.

The WE1010 has a 70W solder iron with ergonomic handle, toolless hot tip change, an ESD safe station, plus a heat-resistant silicon cable for safe handling. The WE1010 uses ET soldering tips and features a standby mode and password-protected auto reset mode that helps to conserve energy and protect equipment.

Andrew Weatherill, Vice President of Global Product at Farnell, said, “Weller Tools is the trusted name in hand soldering, rework, and fume extraction. They have led the way in these areas for many decades, and we look forward to following and supporting their innovative ideas and practical results for many years to come.”

The ZeroSmog Shield is engineered to complement Weller’s soldering stations by providing high-efficiency fume extraction, ensuring a cleaner, safer work environment for soldering professionals designed for intermittent use in laboratories, R&D and educational institutes. It comes with an easy to change EPA E10 filter and an integrated work light to indicate the optimal extraction area. This special edition black product underscores Weller’s legacy of innovation, safety and performance in protecting the users health whilst soldering.

Weller Tools Senior Director, Marcel Teller echoed Farnell’s view adding, “As Weller celebrates 80 years of ground breaking advancements in soldering, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation. The release of the special black edition WE1010 and ZeroSmog Shield is a tribute to our heritage and a testament to our ongoing dedication to the future of soldering technology.”

Weller Tools’ anniversary celebrations will continue throughout 2025 and their industry leading soldering tools can be ordered online from Farnell in EMEA, element14 in APAC and Newark in North America.
