Chicopee expands 100% recycled microfibre wipe range

Chicopee has expanded its recycled microfibre professional cleaning wipe portfolio. The three-product rMicrofibre range includes disposable and reusable options, with colour coding for hygiene applications and a claimed 99.99% mechanical bacteria removal rate using water.

Chicopee®, a Magnera brand and leading manufacturer of professional cleaning wipes, is launching today its expanded rMicrofibre range, introducing a wider portfolio of 100% recycled microfibre solutions designed to help customers meet the differing hygiene and operational requirements of modern cleaning environments.

Building on the success of the original Chicopee rMicrofibre wipe, the extended range now includes three products – rMicrofibre Light, rMicrofibre Plus and rMicrofibre Super – available in multiple formats to suit different cleaning environments and risk levels, with R/B/G/Y colour-coded options that help differentiate cleaning tasks and areas in line with HACCP principles.

The range achieves 99.99% mechanical bacteria removal using only water, enabling lower chemical usage in low-risk environments, while remaining fully compatible with cleaning chemicals for disinfection.

Manufactured in Europe from 100% recycled, GRS-certified materials, the portfolio delivers over 30% lower CO₂ emissions compared with its non-recycled equivalent, according to Magnera’s internal lifecycle assessment. Local production also reduces transport emissions versus Far Eastern imports while providing customers with a more reliable and agile supply chain.

Designed for healthcare, hospitality, foodservice, retail, transportation and facility management applications, the range supports everything from routine cleaning tasks to higher risk environments where bacteria removal and cross-contamination prevention are critical.

The expanded portfolio includes:

  • rMicrofibre Light – a lightweight, cost-effective disposable wipe for hygiene-sensitive environments with frequent wipe changes where cross-contamination prevention is critical.
  • rMicrofibre Plus – a disposable solution ideal for high-traffic environments where hygiene, quick turnaround times and operational simplicity are priorities.
  • rMicrofibre Super – a reusable microfibre cloth, washable up to 25 times, for low-risk environments where laundering is preferred and waste reduction is a priority.

Unlike many disposable microfibre alternatives that combine microfibre with viscose, affecting cleaning performance and chemical compatibility, the Chicopee rMicrofibre range is manufactured from 100% microfibre. Its premium 32-split, ultra-fine microfibres create exceptional surface contact, helping trap and retain dirt, grease and bacteria rather than redistributing them to other surfaces.

For customers seeking a reusable alternative, rMicrofibre Super provides a cost-effective solution compared to textile microfibre, delivering a similar premium cloth-like feel and durability. With greater bulk and abrasion resistance than disposable microfibre options, it is ideal for intensive cleaning while facilitating access to hard-to-reach areas.

Internal testing has demonstrated that rMicrofibre delivers improved particle retention, oil removal and abrasion resistance compared with disposable microfibre alternatives containing viscose, while providing streak-free results on glass, stainless steel, mirrors, monitors and touchscreens commonly found throughout modern facilities.

Lorenzo Vaira, Product Manager for Europe, Chicopee and Sontara, comments:

“With the expansion of our rMicrofibre portfolio, customers can now choose the right product to fit different cleaning requirements, sustainability objectives and operating models.”

“Whether organisations need a disposable solution for hygiene-sensitive areas and operational simplicity, or a reusable cloth for lower-risk environments, they can benefit from the same proven microfibre technology and sustainability credentials across the range.”

The expanded rMicrofibre portfolio marks another step in Chicopee’s commitment to developing innovative cleaning solutions that help customers achieve higher hygiene standards, meet sustainability goals and simplify cleaning operations.
