General Fusion has measured plasma heating above twelve million degrees. Working with UKAEA, researchers used Thomson scattering diagnostics on LM26 to establish electron temperatures around 1.1 keV during mechanical compression, ahead of a more demanding experimental target.

Sellafield has emptied ageing tanks containing radioactive waste from reprocessing. The completed transfer reduces heat loading on the oldest storage equipment, while the liquor remains in newer tanks awaiting treatment and immobilisation in glass.
