AnalytiChem adds trace metal certification to DigiTUBE

AnalytiChem adds trace metal certification to tighten ICP sample control. The move adds element-specific contamination data to a DigiTUBE line already certified for volume, supporting validation and blank assessment.

AnalytiChem has added a Trace Metal Certification to its DigiTUBE disposable digestion tubes, extending a product line already supplied with lot-based volume certification into contamination-controlled sample preparation for ICP workflows.

The new certification provides verified results for more than 65 elements, giving laboratories a documented reference for any inherent trace metal background associated with the polypropylene used in the tubes. AnalytiChem said the data can support method validation, blank evaluation, and audit documentation in applications where laboratories are measuring trace elements down to ppb or ppt levels using ICP-OES and ICP-MS.

DigiTUBEs are manufactured from ICP-MS grade polypropylene and are designed for use with graphite digestion block systems. The range is available in 15 mL, 50 mL, and 100 mL formats with leak-free screw caps and calibrated volume graduations. Each lot also receives a Certificate of Volume analysis confirming volumetric compliance to Class A specification according to ASTM E288-10 and ISO 384 through AnalytiChem’s ISO 17025 accredited procedure.

By combining digestion, dilution, transfer, and storage functions in one disposable vessel, the product is intended to reduce sample handling and remove cleaning stages that can add labour and contamination risk. AnalytiChem says a single DigiTUBE can replace up to five vessels in the laboratory. The range also includes an optional RackLock feature that allows one-handed closure of the screw cap.

Lurdes Teixeira, vice president services and segment leader environmental at AnalytiChem, said the company had now secured both Trace Metal Analysis and Volume Certification for the DigiTUBE disposable digestion tube range. She said the additional quality controls were intended to give laboratories greater confidence in contamination control, volumetric accuracy, and workflow efficiency in sensitive trace metal applications.

AnalytiChem also highlighted related sample-preparation products designed for use alongside DigiTUBEs, including DigiFILTER units, watch glasses, autosampler tubes, and high-purity ICP standards. More information on the DigiTUBE range is available here.
