Infographic reveals Halloween monsters’ electricity usage

Halloween monsters depend on electricity to stay frightening. CP Automation’s latest infographic, “Keeping Haunted Houses Open,” reveals the crucial role of power quality in sustaining the eerie atmosphere of haunted attractions. Without proper electrical management, these attractions risk losing their fright factor due to equipment failures.

This Halloween, power quality specialist CP Automation has unveiled a new infographic titled “Keeping Haunted Houses Open.” The visual resource, available for free download, highlights the reliance of classic monsters on electricity to maintain their scare factor.

Haunted houses, much like industrial facilities, are filled with electrical equipment, from animatronic skeletons and fog machines to lighting rigs and sound systems. These attractions are vulnerable to electrical disturbances such as harmonics, brownouts, and surges. Without adequate protection, the intended fright factor could be compromised, leading to malfunctioning props and silent corridors.

John Mitchell, global sales and marketing director at CP Automation, emphasised, “Even vampires, werewolves, and witches need reliable power. A sudden power dip could disrupt a vampire’s feeding frenzy or halt a werewolf’s transformation. Our infographic presents these scenarios humorously, yet it underscores a critical issue — poor power quality can shut down any facility, haunted or otherwise.”

The infographic illustrates scenarios where vampires are affected by harmonics, werewolves are halted by brownouts, and ghosts disappear during outages. Zombies collapse under circuit overloads, and witches are unseated by power surges. These fictional situations reflect real-world power quality challenges, which can be mitigated with solutions like active harmonic filters, SineTamer surge protection devices, and uninterruptible power supply systems.

Mitchell added, “No facility is immune from power quality issues — not even a haunted one. Businesses everywhere are confronting the same problems faced by monsters in haunted houses.”
