Norwegian grid operator Lede will use GridEyes, an AI-powered and satellite-based solution, to modernise vegetation management and strengthen grid resilience.
The platform will be used by Lede via a partnership with StormGeo, a weather intelligence and decision support solutions developer.
Lede will integrate GridEyes into its infrastructure to improve situational awareness, forecast-based risk mitigation, and grid stability in the face of extreme weather.
GridEyes, says StormGeo, was developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), tackling one of the leading causes of power outages worldwide.
The tech uses satellite imagery and advanced analytics to help utilities detect and prioritise encroachment risks before they disrupt service.

Commenting in a release was Morten Gøytil, head of department maintenance at Lede: “Partnering with StormGeo and adopting GridEyes allows us to modernise our approach to vegetation management and grid resilience.
“With the increasing frequency of extreme weather, it’s critical that we move from reactive to proactive grid maintenance. GridEyes gives us the visibility and predictive tools we need to safeguard our infrastructure and deliver reliable service to our customers.”
According to Carsten Torbergsen, StormGeo’s senior vice president of energy, the partnership with Lede marks the commercial debut of its GridEyes tech.
Said Torbergsen: “It demonstrates how utilities can move toward data-driven vegetation risk management using scalable, predictive technology. With climate-related disruptions on the rise, solutions like GridEyes are becoming essential to safeguarding grid reliability around the world.”
GridEyes is part of StormGeo’s global Utility Solution Suite, working alongside tools for weather forecasting, outage prediction, and extreme weather response.
