u-blox releases asset tracking service CloudTrack

u-blox has unveiled CloudTrack, a pioneering end-to-end asset tracking service that sets a new benchmark in the IoT sector. This comprehensive service delivers ultra-low-power positioning, worldwide connectivity, and seamless Cloud integration in one package. CloudTrack streamlines IoT asset tracking by offering contract-free, per-location-request plans available globally, providing businesses with a transparent pay-as-you-go pricing model without hidden charges or concerns about data consumption.

One of CloudTrack’s most notable benefits is its 6X energy savings compared to a traditional GNSS fix with a cold start, along with secure data transmission over the internet. The service leverages u-blox’s technology to intelligently determine positions using a combination of GNSS, cellular, and Wi-Fi data. This allows businesses to track assets even in areas with weak or no GNSS signals, such as indoors, where obtaining a location fix would typically be difficult and rapidly deplete battery power.

u-blox CloudTrack simplifies the asset-tracking process by eliminating the need to manage multiple location data and connectivity providers. This single-provider solution, featuring a simple per-location-request pricing model, enhances efficiency for businesses. Furthermore, with the use of a single Thingstream SIM card that functions globally, IoT devices can operate worldwide with one stock-keeping unit (SKU), removing the necessity for regional SKUs. The Thingstream Cloud platform enables businesses to easily transform and integrate their data with tracking dashboards, major Cloud platforms, and enterprise backend systems.

CloudTrack is optimised for use with u-blox cellular ‘combo’ modules, such as the LENA-R8 LTE Cat 1bis module with an integrated M10 GNSS receiver, providing an unrivalled ultra-low-power global IoT asset tracking solution.
