Omron launches high-payload robots and TMflow update

OMRON Robotics expands its collaborative robot range significantly. The introduction of the TM30S, TM20S, and TM6S models enhances payload and reach capacities for various applications. Coupled with the TMflow 2.22 software update, these advancements address the growing demand for flexible, high-mix production in manufacturing sectors.

OMRON Robotics and Safety Technologies has announced a notable expansion of its TM S Series collaborative robot portfolio, unveiling three new models alongside a significant software update. The TM30S, TM20S, and TM6S models are designed to bolster the series’ capabilities, specifically catering to manufacturers grappling with labour shortages and increasing demands for flexible, high-mix production environments. These new models enhance payload and reach capabilities, making them suitable for applications such as palletising, machine tending, and precision handling.

The expanded TM S Series includes three distinct models: the TM30S, capable of handling a 30 kg payload for heavy-duty tasks like palletising and machine tending; the TM20S, which offers a 20 kg payload with extended reach for mid-to-high payload operations; and the TM6S, a long-reach model optimised for precision handling and welding support, with integration capabilities for mobile robots.

OMRON has implemented several hardware enhancements across the S Series to improve durability and facilitate faster redeployment. All robot arms now feature an IP65 rating, ensuring suitability for washdown or dust-prone environments. The higher-payload units, such as the TM25S and TM30S, incorporate an integrated joint 6 force-torque wrist sensor, enhancing force-controlled processes. The updated Landmark 2.0 vision-based positioning system reduces recalibration time when moving robots between stations.

Additionally, OMRON has released TMflow 2.22, an update to its no-code programming environment. This new version offers more granular safety configuration options, expanded remote monitoring and diagnostics, and a higher-fidelity simulation engine. The integrated vision tools have been strengthened to support inspection and pick-and-place tasks with increased accuracy.

Qiqi Wang, Global Product Manager at OMRON Robotics and Safety Technologies, stated, “By introducing the TM30S, TM20S, and TM6S alongside crucial upgrades like IP65 certification and the integrated joint 6 force torque sensor, we are empowering our customers to automate their most challenging, heavy-duty tasks with greater safety, precision, and flexibility than ever before. TMflow 2.22 ensures that this immense power remains easy to program and manage, upholding our commitment to harmonious automation.”
