GEA has launched the PowerPak 5000, a thermoforming packaging machine tailored for medium-sized food producers, at interpack 2026. This new system replaces previous midsize models, aiming to provide a practical balance between performance, simplicity, and cost management for processors not requiring peak-output, specialised machinery.
The PowerPak 5000 targets a wide array of product categories, including meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, bakery, ready meals, and plant-based foods. Designed for a market facing frequent changeovers and pricing pressures, it ensures high-quality output without unnecessary technical complexity.
The machine introduces advancements that enhance efficiency for scale-ups and medium-sized plants. Its multi-format versatility supports Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP), vacuum and skin packaging, and steam applications, allowing manufacturers to handle diverse product lines on one platform. Digital tools such as GEA SmartControl, GEA Changeover Assist, and GEA InsightPartner reduce reliance on specialised labour, while its modular design permits the addition of advanced technologies like the PowerHeat heating system, PowerLabel, and PowerJet as business needs grow.
Utilising GEA’s Kinetic Edge Design, the PowerPak 5000 eliminates unnecessary structural complexity, improving accessibility for cleaning and maintenance. Lubrication-free bearings and industrial-standard components further lower contamination risks and simplify spare parts management.
At interpack, GEA showcases the PowerPak 5000 within a synchronised One-Line Concept, integrating slicing, loading, packaging, and labeling for outputs up to 600 kg/h. This coordinated setup aims to provide mid-range manufacturers with a stable, efficient process, ensuring consistent product quality throughout.
