The leading innovator in specialty phosphates said the launch follows the US Food and Drug Administration’s recent approval of Innophos’ petition to use calcium phosphate as a safe colour additive in specific food categories, marking a significant regulatory milestone for food manufacturers.

Innophos’ new VersaCal Bright has been approved for use in donut sugar, sugar for coated candies, white candy melts, and ready-to-eat chicken products – offering a safe, effective alternative to TiO₂ in response to growing consumer and regulatory concerns.

“VersaCal Bright gives manufacturers a practical, science-backed solution that meets both visual and clean-label demands,” said Erhan Yildiz, product development senior manager at Innophos. “It offers an effective alternative to titanium dioxide while helping brands strengthen their labels with calcium and phosphorus content. It’s a smart way to align with consumer expectations for simpler, safer ingredients while getting ahead of potential future regulatory changes.”
