British Gas Business contracts IMServ for smart meter services

UK data collection and metering service provider IMServ has become the preferred metering partner for British Gas Business.

The strategic partnership builds on the long standing relationship between the two companies, with British Gas Business utilising IMServ’s expertise, systems and skilled teams to help deliver innovative products and services whilst improving customer experience.

The two companies also have completed thousands of smart meter installations together.

“Centrica Business Solutions are delighted to partner with IMServ, together we aim to provide an affordable, sustainable and simpler experience to our customers,” says Mitch Donnelly, head of Business Energy at British Gas Business.

The announcement follows the appointment of former British Gas CEO Ian Peters as chairman of IMServ.

Peters, who holds a variety of advisory roles, including chair of the UK Health Security Agency, will help drive the company’s next phase of growth.

IMServ claims management of more than 25% of all the electricity that goes through the UK National Grid.

IMServ was acquired by energy-focused private equity firm Bluewater in September to support its future growth, following a carve-out from Schneider Electric.

British Gas Business, part of Centrica, provides efficiency, resilience, and sustainability solutions to a wide range of business sectors including manufacturing, commercial real estate and healthcare, and has previously helped Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust cut its carbon emissions by 75%.

“It’s fantastic to be strengthening and deepening our relationship with Centrica,” adds Steve Brown, MD of IMServ.

“Centrica has a huge client base, and we’ll be working with them to help analyse energy consumption and make it more efficient and less emissions-intensive.”
