CFREP sets Brussels plastics agenda

CFREP has published its Brussels agenda for contact-sensitive plastics regulation. The June conference will cover food contact materials, recycled plastics, PPWR implementation, reuse systems, and compliance documentation.

CFREP has published the draft agenda for its 2026 Contact-Sensitive Plastics Conference, taking place on 16–17 June at Martin’s Brussels Hotel.

The two-day programme brings food contact materials, packaging regulation, recycling, certification, and sustainability policy into a single technical forum. Contributors are expected from across the contact-sensitive plastics value chain, including converters, recyclers, laboratories, certification bodies, packaging producers, industry associations, and European institutions.

Day one opens with a roundtable on recycled plastics for food contact and implementation of Regulation (EU) 2022/1616. The session will address novel technologies, certification practice, recycling and audit practices, and enforcement, with contributors listed from Poly Recycling AG, LPE, Polycert, and the PETCORE NIAS working group.

A second roundtable will examine food contact materials and packaging policy, including the EU food contact materials review, revisions to plastics and recycling regulations, and the effect of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation on PFAS requirements and design for recycling. Speakers listed for the session include representatives from DG SANTE, FOD Health Belgium, and AMCOR.

The afternoon programme then moves into PPWR and reuse, with a panel on performance-based approaches and practical implementation. Reuse systems, circularity, methodology, and feasibility will be considered alongside the challenge of turning regulatory expectations into workable compliance processes.

On day two, a workshop on declarations of compliance and documentation will cover declaration preparation, recycled content and amendments, and reuse documentation. Geoffroy Tillieux and Dario Dainelli are listed as leads for the session.

The final open session will focus on value chain perspectives and CFREP priorities for 2026–2027, including practical support for members navigating complex regulatory requirements. Listed speakers include Laura Maurizio of Sealed Air, CFREP chairwoman, Marie Delphine Bracon of ELIPSO, and Dario Dainelli of Policy Regulatory.
