WEG has established a new benchmark in the industrial sector by launching the world’s first fully pre-verified system for issuing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for electric motors, verified by EPD International AB. The tool, known as “WEG EcoHub Version 1.0,” adheres to PCR 2022:06 standards — covering electric motors, generators, and their parts for industrial applications — and is compliant with ISO 14025 for publishing EPDs in the International EPD System. This development elevates the standards for transparency and sustainability in the electric motor industry.
EPDs provide a standardised, verified account of a product’s environmental performance throughout its life cycle, from raw material extraction to final disposal. These declarations are globally recognised, offering transparency and reliability that enable businesses and consumers to make informed decisions aligned with sustainable development goals and CO2 reduction targets.

By receiving approval for its EPD generation system, WEG positions itself as a global leader in the sector. This pioneering approach allows consumers to access verified data on the environmental impact of its electric motors, reinforcing WEG’s leadership in integrating technology, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
