Urban Farm-It, pioneers in sustainable mushroom cultivation, has announced the opening of its second farm in partnership with leading logistics provider Oakland International. Situated at Oakland’s Redditch site, the new farm marks a major step forward in reducing food miles and building a greener supply chain.

The cutting-edge mushroom farm features a 190-square-metre fruiting room with a 7-tonne capacity, equipped with bespoke lighting and front-of-line AEM climate control technology. Integrated within Oakland’s BRC-accredited open food pack house, the farm benefits from round-the-clock delivery capabilities, bringing fresher, locally grown produce directly to customers faster than ever before.

Sustainability is central to Urban Farm-It’s mission, demonstrated through its Red Tractor and Soil Association Organic certifications. The site incorporates advanced environmental waste systems, plastic recycling, and anaerobic digestion of spent substrate, ensuring operations remain as environmentally responsible as possible.

Luke Attwell, COO of Urban Farm Produce Ltd T/A Urban Farm-It: “Our partnership with Urban Farm-It brings an innovative mushroom farm to our Redditch site, supporting our goal to reduce food miles and build a more sustainable supply chain. By growing fresh produce directly at our facility, we’re cutting emissions, improving freshness, and showing what’s possible when logistics and farming come together in the same space.”

Elliot Webb, CEO of Urban Farm-It, added: “Urban Farm-It is thrilled to partner with industry leaders Oakland International. Together, we bring the best bits of both our industries in a new look business that aims to change the food production and service game forever.”

This partnership sets a new benchmark for sustainable food production, uniting farming and logistics to deliver fresher produce with a reduced environmental footprint.
