Food industry awards announces shortlist

The annual FDF Awards, which recognise innovation, industry talent and healthier product development across the food and drink sector, has unveiled its shortlist.

The prestigious awards bring together six hundred guests to celebrate the winners and industry achievements over the last year.

Karen Betts OBE, chief executive, The Food and Drink Federation said the FDF Awards are one of the highlights of our industry’s calendar, with colleagues from across food and drink businesses up and down the country coming together to celebrate our successes.

“These range from exciting new product development to outstanding apprentices and brilliant community partnerships.

“Food and drink is the largest manufacturing sector in the UK. Our industry supports everyone’s daily lives with nourishment and pleasure, with a wide range of varied, affordable and safe food and drink. In doing so, we operate everywhere across the UK’s four nations, supporting great jobs and careers and driving growth and innovation across the economy, alongside the prosperity of the communities in which we work.

“Our awards celebrate the excellence, innovation, talent, and dedication of colleagues across the industry. This year’s awards have an impressive array of nominees, and I wish everyone the very best of luck.”

Leading figures in the food and drink industry have made up the esteemed panel of judges, which have complied the final shortlist. The ceremony, which is sponsored by KPMG, will be hosted by the Irish chef, author of cookbooks and television presenter Clodagh McKenna, on Thursday 19th September, and held at The Roundhouse in London.

Linda Ellett, UK head of consumer, retail and leisure, KPMG and sponsor of the Awards added that a thriving food and drink sector is not only essential for employment and economic growth, but it is also crucial for sustaining our natural environment, ensuring the security of our food system, promoting personal health and wellbeing, and providing pleasure – all at an affordable level for consumers.

“For all these reasons, KPMG is proud to celebrate the food and drink industry and its finest businesses,” Ellett said.
