Energy digital solution provider Gridspertise has announced its acquisition of the Finland-headquartered Aidon Oy.
Gridspertise has acquired 100% of the shares in Aidon Oy from current shareholders, Alder Fund I AB, 2VK Invest AS, Finnish Industry Investment Ltd and minority shareholders.
With the acquisition, Gridspertise should be enabled to advance in the Nordic markets, in particular with its advanced solutions such as the Quantum Edge platform device for substation virtualisation to enable high penetration of renewable energies and the expansion of emobility.
“Aidon’s successful, customer-oriented approach and its innovative solutions create a strong foundation for enabling the energy transition in the Nordic countries,” says Robert Denda, CEO of Gridspertise.

“The combination of expertise from the two companies will accelerate innovation and enable us to offer a more comprehensive portfolio of solutions both to our Nordic customers and globally.”
Tommi Blomberg, CEO of Aidon, says that joining the Gridspertise group creates an excellent opportunity for Aidon to strengthen its international position through new ownership.
“The acquisition opens up new avenues to the market for us and strengthens our company’s resource and competence base.”
Aidon will continue as an independent unit under Gridspertise’s ownership.
The company, founded in 2004, is considered one of the leading AMI service providers in the Nordics, with its technology in use in about 5 million energy metering points across the region.
Recent new projects are with three large Finish regional DSOs, Järvi-Suomen Energia, Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko and PKS Sähkösiirto, for a total of 300,000 smart meters and 10-year metering and data management services through a joint tendering process and most recently with another Finish DSO Tampereen Energia Sähköverkko Oy for 130,000 smart meters and additional metering services.
In September Aidon acquired the smart meter operations business from the Nordic software provider Enerim Oy, which was divested in its focus on its software-as-a-service offerings for energy data management and processing and customer management.
Gridspertise, which was spun out of Enel, recently announced surpassing the milestone of 100 million smart meters delivered globally. In anticipation of its growing product and service offerings, the company moved into new headquarters with offices and state-of-the-art development labs in September.
