Z-PEI 1010 Engineering Filament and External PEI and ABS Based Printing Profiles Now Available
Z-PEI 1010 is a blend of polyetherimide with very high heat deflection temperature, rigidity, mechanical strength, and broad chemical resistance. Printed on the Zortrax Endureal 3D printer, it can be used in a variety of applications across different fields like automotive, large-scale manufacturing, or in chemical industry.
Zortrax Endureal is an industrial 3D printer designed for printing with high-performance polymers, materials with mechanical properties good enough to rival many metals, which at the same time can be printed in a cost-efficient LPD technology. Z-PEI 1010 is the next, after Z-PEI 9085, high-performance polymer available for Zortrax Endureal.
Due to high rigidity, components 3D printed with Z-PEI 1010 tend to break rather than bend when they are exposed to critical stress levels. The material therefore works great in housings for electronics, load-bearing parts, or industrial assembly jigs. Another key property of Z-PEI 1010 is broad chemical resistance. The material does not react with automotive fluids, lubricants, nor halogenated hydrocarbons used for cleaning metal components. Z-PEI 1010 can be therefore used for piping components in chemical industry as the material does not contaminate substances transported through such pipes. Finally, Z-PEI 1010 has a heat deflection temperature reaching 208° C and remains thermally stable in both very low and very high temperatures.
External printing profiles are meant as a starting point for experienced users to work with various PEI-based, high-performance polymers suitable for their manufacturing scenarios. There is a wide range of filaments available on the market which reinforce PEI 9085 or PEI 1010 with carbon or glass fibers for instance. To print with such materials, it is now possible to go into the External Materials section in Z-SUITE, choose whether the filament about to be used is based on PEI 9085 or PEI 1010, and adjust the baseline settings to match the recommendations of the material’s manufacturer. Same procedure can be also applied to working with different materials based on ABS.
Growing range of supported materials, frequent updates, and a capability to work with external engineering filaments make the Endureal perfect for advanced applications in various high-tech fields like oil industry, space, aviation, automotive, and more.
