Würth Elektronik introduces film capacitors for noise suppression

Würth Elektronik launches new film capacitors for noise suppression. The WCAP-FTY2 series is designed for X1 or Y2 applications, featuring high impulse dielectric strength. Certified by VDE with ENEC10, these capacitors enhance safety in industrial and household applications.

Würth Elektronik has expanded its range of electronic components with the introduction of the WCAP-FTY2 series film capacitors, optimised for noise suppression. These components meet the X1 or Y2 safety classifications according to IEC 60384-14 standards, offering superior impulse dielectric strength compared to traditional X2 capacitors. The VDE has confirmed these attributes with ENEC10 certification.

The WCAP-FTY2 series capacitors serve as interference suppression devices, suitable for deployment as either X1 or Y2 capacitors. In X1 applications, the capacitor is installed between the phase (L) and neutral conductor (N), while in Y2 applications, it is positioned between the phase (L) and ground (PE), or between the neutral conductor and ground. These metallised film capacitors incorporate self-healing properties, enhancing their reliability and making them particularly fail-safe.

Primarily, these capacitors are utilised as mains filters in household appliances and for interference suppression in industrial settings, including inverters and motor control systems. Würth Elektronik offers developers free samples and a specialised suite of services. The REDEXPERT online platform provides individually measured impedance curves, aiding in precise component selection. Additionally, a comprehensive design kit is available for developers.
