Speakers announced – a magnificent agenda builds for UKIS 23
The UK Infrastructure Show 2023 is the leading infrastructure and supply chain event, and brings together some of the major projects, planners, buyers and industry bodies from across this £650 billion marketplace.
UKIS 23 is designed to give suppliers looking for opportunities across the infrastructure sector direct access to some of the leading infrastructure projects or programmes currently underway or in the pipeline.
For planners and buyers this event gives you the opportunity to meet with new suppliers, learn more about the future of infrastructure in the UK, and network with peers and colleagues.
The Keynote Arena will be the centre of attention, with a strong line-up representing both policy and projects in the UK.
Chaired by Grahame Steed, Director, Public Policy, Research and Communications at BiP Solutions, the event will begin with an address from Nick Smallwood, Chief Executive Officer, Infrastructure and Projects Authority.
He will be followed by Einav Ben – Yehuda, Commercial Director at Defra, who will provide some interesting insight into the role of Defra within infrastructure development.
The mid-morning slot will see Allan Wilen, Economics Director at Glenigan provide a forecast of the Infrastructure Sector 2023 and Beyond, which will give key insight into the sector and where investment opportunities will lie.
A must-see speaker will appear after lunch, and we are thrilled to host CEO of the UK Infrastructure Bank and former HSBC chief executive, John Flint.
The UK Infrastructure Bank is a state lender designed to channel billions of pounds into capital projects as part of the government’s “levelling-up” agenda.
Yorkshire-born Flint, joined HSBC as a graduate and worked for the bank for 30 years, eventually rising to chief executive in early 2018.
Sarah Williamson, Civil Programme Director at Sizewell C will take to the floor after John, with a discussion on creating commercial confidence and opportunities for the supply chain at this major UK infrastructure project.
The line-up is completed with sessions from Arvinder Birdi, Partner at Gardiner & Theobald and Nathan Wyatt, Assistant Director, National Infrastructure Commission who will take to the floor with an update to the National Infrastructure Assessment.
Outside of the main arena, we have two zones with speakers looking at specific areas within the sector.
Our Transport zone will host numerous speakers from major projects within the industry, alongside Allan Wilen, who will look specifically at transport opportunities.
Martyn Cusack and Jatinder Judge at HS2, Mace Dragados, SCS Railways, and CompeteFor will all host specific sessions, with Dr David Crosthwaite, Head of Consultancy Services at BCIS rounding up the zone with a session on the role of data in reducing carbon in construction.
The Energy and Social Infrastructure Zone will be essential for suppliers within this sector to visit. Sessions will be provided from UK Parliament hosted by Rob Slater, Supply Chain Manager, Strategic Estate at UK Parliament. He will be followed by Guy Battle, Chief Executive at Social Value Portal who will help attendees understand Social Value in Infrastructure.
Allan Wilen, will again provide his expertise on the sector, while opportunities for suppliers will be discussed by Peter Hogg, Head of PPP Supply Chain Management at Sellafield. Further sessions will be presented by Zaid Alwan, Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Environment, Northumbria University, who will discuss carbon in construction and how the industry can help the drive to net zero.
Jas Kalra, Head of Supply Chain at Lower Thames Crossing will provide an unmissable session for suppliers with her talk on leveraging supply chain strategy opportunities at Lower Thames Crossing.
The zone will be concluded with a presentation from Alison Nicholl, Head of Constructing Excellence, BRE.
