Polish TSO Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE) has announced its Transmission Network Development Plan (PRSP) for 2025 to 2034, amounting to over PLN64 billion (€15 billion).
The plan, agreed upon in late December 2024, outlines the investment plans that will be needed to accommodate 4,700km of new 400kv lines as well as 28 new and 110 modernised stations.
The plan includes variant scenarios for the development of the national power system (KSE), plans for the expansion of transmission infrastructure and the results of analyses of the adequacy of generation resources.
The PRSP takes into account the trends and sectoral changes taking place in the national power system, such as the ongoing electrification of heating and transport and the emergence of new large electricity consumers, which will significantly increase the demand for it.

The development of the transmission network presented in the document will constitute the basis for implementing changes resulting from the energy transformation process.
One of the most important projects provided for in the PRSP is the construction of a direct current connection (HVDC), connecting the north with the south of the country. This will allow the transmission of power from new generation sources to recipients, without burdening the rest of the transmission network.
The implementation of the PRSP will enable a significant increase in the potential for the construction of new renewable energy sources.
Specifically, says PSE in a release, it will enable the connection approximately 18GW of offshore wind farms, approximately 45GW of photovoltaic sources and over 19GW of onshore wind farms.
Together with the potential of other types of renewable energy sources, this means that over the next decade it will be possible to produce approximately 160TWh of energy from renewable sources annually.
The implementation of the PRSP will also allow for the connection of a nuclear power plant in Pomerania and small nuclear reactors.
