Oadby Plastics reaches carbon neutral waste status

Oadby Plastics achieves carbon neutrality in waste management. The Leicester-based supplier has reintroduced over 1,100 tonnes of production waste into the industry in 2023. Partnering with Envirovue, Oadby Plastics has reached 99% landfill diversion, showcasing a robust commitment to sustainability and forward-thinking waste management.

Oadby Plastics, a leading independent plastics supplier in the UK, has made significant strides towards sustainability by achieving carbon neutrality in its waste management practices. The Leicester-based company, known for supplying semi-finished plastics and custom-machined parts, has successfully reintegrated over 1,100 tonnes of production waste back into the industry since the beginning of 2023. This achievement is part of a comprehensive sustainability initiative that includes a partnership with Envirovue, a technology-driven waste management company.

Through collaboration with Envirovue, Oadby Plastics has achieved a 99% landfill diversion rate. The partnership, initiated in August 2024, has implemented a robust strategy to track, manage, and minimise waste across production and facilities while maintaining high-quality product delivery. Envirovue, based in Lancashire, has processed more than 450 tonnes of waste, ensuring accurate tracking and processing across multiple sites.

Jack Tipper, Quality & Environmental Manager at Oadby Plastics, stated, “While we always strive to maximise material yield and process efficiency to minimise waste, CNC manufacturing is a process that naturally generates a lot of waste; however, working with Envirovue has enabled us to have detailed insight into waste streams, giving us the power to reduce inefficiencies and ensure our waste management is fully aligned with our sustainability goals.”

In addition to waste management, Oadby Plastics is focused on reducing energy-related emissions and utilises renewable energy systems to further decrease its carbon footprint. Emma Cooke, Operations Manager at Envirovue, remarked, “It’s fantastic to work with Oadby Plastics, a great example of a business which has taken a forward-thinking approach to sustainability.”

The collaboration highlights the potential for businesses to align with sustainability goals through strategic partnerships and innovative waste management solutions. As Oadby Plastics continues to build on these achievements, the industry will be watching closely for further advancements in sustainable practices.
