NES and Cover Energy Plus partner on smart meter rollout in Ukraine

Networked Energy Services Corporation (NES) has partnered with Cover Energy Plus (CEP) to accelerate the rollout of smart metering solutions in Ukraine.

NES will provide its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) with CEP’s practical rollout experience in traditional and renewable energy projects.

NES, with its implementation of the Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP), has gained experience in deploying secure smart grid solutions. With its recent introduction of Grid Watch threat detection and response solution, NES is able to address the cyber-security requirements of Ukraine’s digitisation programmes. Through its OSGP implementation, NES AMI offers secure and reliable communications, with deployments typically exceeding 99% reliability. Resilience to noise is a key consideration in any AMI rollout. NES’s proven performance, again, is a unique qualification for Ukraine, and an essential enabler for DSO digitisation.

Cover Energy Plus is a leading organisation in the smart energy transition in Ukraine with over 100 major projects in transmission and distribution grids and renewable energy generation to its credit. Through its deployment services, Cover Energy Plus will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of NES’s solution; including smart meters, data concentrators, HES (Head End System) and NES operations, maintenance, analytics, optimisation and cyber-security applications. This will leverage Cover Energy Plus’ established competence and experience in the introduction of transformational technology in the energy sector.

David Thomson, CEO of NES, said: “We are very excited about this new partnership with CEP.

“The technology NES provides, coupled with the excellent track record and experience of Cover Energy Plus, will be pivotal to the overall smart energy transition in Ukraine.”

Yuri Domansky, Managing Director of Cover Energy Plus, adds: “Ukraine has some very specific challenges for its smart grid rollout.

“Together, we have a solution that can help Ukraine face the threat of cyber-attack and accelerate the reliable digitization of Ukrainian DSOs.”
