A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), the Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand (EGAT), the Mitsubishi Company (Thailand) and Chiyoda Corporation to build a clean hydrogen and ammonia value chain derived from renewable energy sources in southern Thailand.

Under the MoU, MOL, Mitsubishi Thailand and Chiyoda will work with EGAT to develop decarbonization projects to achieve the country’s decarbonization targets. The companies will evaluate ways to establish a series of supply chains for the production, storage, transport and utilization of clean hydrogen and ammonia derived from renewable energy sources in the southern part of the country. These will then be supplied to domestic and international markets.

MOL and its partners will study the best practices for the safe and efficient transportation of hydrogen and ammonia. Through the study, MOL will also contribute to the development of Thailand’s clean energy sector and international initiatives on carbon neutrality.
