Lewa expands micro-metering pumps for gas odorisation

LEWA expands micro-metering pumps with two new model sizes. Responding to market demand, LEWA introduces the MAH4 and MBH6 pumps, offering a broader range of flow and pressure combinations. This innovation enhances gas odorization efficiency, meeting diverse industrial needs with precision and cost-effectiveness.

LEWA, a leader in advanced diaphragm pumps, has unveiled two new micro-metering pump models, extending its range to offer more versatile flow and pressure combinations for gas odorization. This development addresses the rising demand for smaller units capable of handling varying flow rates and operating pressures.

Odorization is crucial in ensuring the safety of gas distribution networks by adding a distinguishable scent to otherwise odourless gases. Micro-metering pumps are integral to this process, adding intense odorants to flammable gases such as natural gas, LPG, CNG, LNG, and biogas. These pumps also serve in odorizing oxygen, hydrogen, and other critical industrial gases, ensuring any leaks are quickly detectable to protect people and property.

Walter Richter, Head of Sales Odorization & Gas Distribution at LEWA, stated, “Efficient odorization involves very precise dosing with minute quantities of chemicals, so selecting a pump to match the application’s flow rate and discharge pressure is critical to success. By introducing the MAH4 and MBH6 micro-metering pumps with new piston sizes, we can offer a wider selection of flow and pressure combinations, enabling more effective and cost-efficient odorization with higher accuracy.”

LEWA’s new models, the MAH4 and MBH6, enhance its existing hydraulically actuated micro-metering pumps range, which includes the MAH, MBH, MLM15, and MLM40 series. These pumps deliver flow rates from 10 ml/h to 55 l/h and accommodate pressures up to 560 barg. The MAH4, operating at 16 barg, complements the MAH3, while the MBH6 offers up to 0.6 l/h at 42 barg, catering to compact and powerful applications.

Both the MAH4 and MBH6 feature a metal diaphragm and solenoid drive suitable for hazardous environments. They are leak-proof and odorant fluid diffusion-tight, preventing contamination and false alarms. Designed for durability, they withstand extreme conditions without damage. Their wide control range and energy efficiency ensure a low total cost of ownership.

Richter concludes, “Optimal performance and low operating costs result from a fully engineered, proven solution. The new additions to our micro-metering range represent far more than a simple scaling of the existing pump assemblies. We subjected the new MAH4 and MBH6 designs to field tests, cold and pressure tests to ensure they will deliver optimal functionality and safety throughout their service life.”

LEWA micro-metering pumps comply with standards such as DVGW G280 and are explosion-protected up to EX-Zone 1. For more information, visit LEWA’s official website.
