Guhring introduces RF 100 AL milling line

Guhring unveils advanced RF 100 AL milling solutions. The RF 100 AL and RF 100 AL Micro series cater to the growing demand for efficient aluminium machining in e-mobility, aviation, and transport industries. These high-performance tools promise substantial improvements in cycle times, surface finishes, and process reliability.

The demand for efficient aluminium machining solutions within the e-mobility, aviation, and transport sectors has intensified. As materials in the ISO-N group gain prominence, Guhring has launched the RF 100 AL range of end mills. This new line addresses the critical need for high-performance machining in aluminium, non-ferrous metals, and plastics.

The RF 100 AL series, available in diameters from 1 to 25 mm, includes the RF 100 AL Micro, designed for precision tasks. With diameters from 0.5 to 3.0 mm, the Micro variant excels in intricate applications, offering cutting lengths of 2.5XD and 5XD. It achieves remarkable material removal rates, cutting cycle times by up to 76%, and ensuring impeccable surface finishes, thanks to its intelligent design.

Central to the RF 100 AL Micro’s performance is its advanced technology suite. An ultra-thin Carbo+ coating enhances wear resistance, boosting machining performance and tool life, particularly in micro-diameter contexts. The tool’s round bevel chamfer ensures smooth finishes and strengthens edge integrity, preventing chipping and breakage. Additionally, the GühroJet internal cooling system, with four or six through coolant channels, guarantees efficient chip removal and prevents swarf re-cutting.

The RF 100 AL Micro’s flexibility is evident in its corner radius and chamfer configurations, supporting various milling techniques such as ramping, slotting, and trochoidal milling. Its stable three-flute configuration ensures high process reliability, even at medium and high speeds.

Complementing the micro range, the RF 100 AL solid carbide cutter extends Guhring’s expertise to standard diameters, delivering a 30% performance boost over competitors. Real-world data shows a 59% reduction in machining time and a 54% improvement in tool life. The nano-polished round bevel chamfer and large polished flute profile contribute to extended tool life and superior chip removal.

With diameters from 1 to 20 mm and corner radii from R 0.1 to 4 mm, the RF 100 AL series offers versatility for diverse applications. Both the RF 100 AL Micro and RF 100 AL benefit from Guhring’s Carbo+ coating, suitable for dry and MQL machining. This coating prevents edge formation, ensuring longer tool life, which is crucial for high-volume production environments where tool longevity affects manufacturing economics.
