Greene King launches limited edition golden ale with Nethergate Brewery

Greene King is launching a limited-edition New Tricks ale in bottle format, which will be available from mid-July.

Part of the brewery’s seasonal ale calendar of limited-edition brews, the golden ale will be available to purchase from the Greene King shop by mid-July, and will be available in cask, in pubs across the UK from the beginning of July until the end of August.

New Tricks is the brand’s second collaboration with Suffolk-based Nethergate Brewery. Brewed at 4% ABV, the golden ale combines ginger and lemon peel to create a super hoppy IPA, described as having malty, citrus, and ginger notes on the nose and a malty and floral taste.

Jack Palmer, head brewer at Greene King, noted the partnership with Nethergate Brewery for the launch of the brand new summer ale, New Tricks, combines Nethergate’s “forward-thinking and innovative brewing style”, with Greene King’s years of expert brewing experience and passion.

“This will definitely be the new dog in town,” Palmer said. He continued: “New Tricks is a delicious flavour infusion, combining citrus, ginger and delicious hops – and it comes just in time for summer. Those looking to top up the taste further can add ginger beer to the ale, for an even longer drink and fiery flavour – a perfect refreshment in the sunshine.”

Ian Carson, head brewer at Nethergate Brewery, said: “This year we set out to create a beer that was light and refreshing, with a little twist to keep people on their toes. Delicately adding some lemon peel for extra zing and a hint of ginger for a unique flavour balance makes this golden ale something you won’t want to miss wherever you are.”

Alongside being available in pub, New Tricks will also be available to purchase online as a 6 pack of 500ml bottles for £14 or in a limited 12-pack bundle featuring a bespoke New Tricks branded glass for £32.
