EDF Group web3 subsidiary Exaion has joined the Chiliz blockchain network as a validator node.

In this role, Exaion takes on a key role in ensuring the security, accuracy and reliability of the Chiliz blockchain, which is focused on the engagement of fans with sport teams and entertainment brands via the creation of fan tokens, NFTs and decentralised applications (dApps).

As a validator node Exaion is expected to bring its expertise from the energy, infrastructure and technology sectors to drive forward the integration of blockchain technology in a manner that is both environmentally sustainable and socially responsible, according to a statement.

“[Exaion’s] renowned expertise in the energy sector and proactive approach to eco-responsibility will significantly bolster our efforts in this space,” says Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz.

Exaion promotes ‘eco-responsible’ as its approach to digital transformation projects, offering a range of turnkey blockchain solutions and a focus on energy efficiency in data centres.

Fatih Balyeli, CEO and co-founder of Exaion, said that exploring the sports and entertainment sectors opens new avenues for the company.

Exaion joins Chiliz shortly after other recently announced validators French soccer giant PSG and South Korea’s K-League.
