DISTRON CORPORATION, a leading U.S.-based electronics contract manufacturer, has installed a new fully integrated conformal coating and curing line. The production cell combines three state-of-the-art SCS systems — the PrecisionCoat VI, PrecisionCure TC (IR), and PrecisionCure UVC (MUV) — creating a streamlined, automated solution that improves quality, efficiency, and consistency across the coating process.

The new PrecisionCoat VI applies conformal coating with exceptional accuracy using a servo-driven, multi-axis system and Automatic Quick Change capability that supports up to eight independently controlled tools. This allows DISTRON to selectively coat complex assemblies without the need for time-consuming masking, while maintaining a high degree of repeatability.

Once coated, assemblies move directly into the PrecisionCure TC (IR), an infrared thermal curing oven with multiple independently controlled heating zones for uniform curing. Optional humidity control shortens cure times for moisture-sensitive materials, further improving throughput.

For assemblies requiring UV cure, the line’s final stage is the PrecisionCure UVC (MUV), a microwave UV curing system featuring a patent-pending moving lamp trolley and programmable curing profiles. This design allows DISTRON to fine-tune UV exposure on different components of a board, ensuring optimal curing without overheating sensitive parts.

“This investment is another major step in our journey toward greater automation,” said Robert H. Donovan, CEO of DISTRON. “By integrating coating, IR curing, and UV curing into one seamless process, we’ve eliminated handling steps, improved precision, and created a more efficient production flow — all of which translates into faster turnaround and consistently high quality for our customers.”

Founded in 1970, DISTRON serves OEMs in the medical, defense, clean tech, lighting, industrial, and robotics sectors. Known for its responsiveness and flexibility, the company supports customers from NPI through full-scale production, offering a complete range of services including surface mount assembly, box build, testing, inspection, warehousing, and fulfillment.
