Daudin has expanded North American availability of the iO-GRID X modular remote I/O family, giving machine builders and factory automation integrators a fieldbus-based platform for connecting sensors, actuators, and control devices with reduced wiring and panel space.
Remote I/O systems allow field devices to connect through distributed stations using a network connection and power circuit, rather than requiring extensive point-to-point wiring back to a central control panel. In machinery, automated manufacturing, logistics, building automation, and similar control environments, that approach can reduce wiring labour while making systems easier to scale.
The iO-GRID X platform supports major industrial Ethernet communications protocols at up to 100Mbps, including EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, and CC-Link IE Field Basic. Each fieldbus coupler includes two RJ45 ports and an integrated two-port Ethernet switch, allowing stations to be expanded using daisy-chain cabling.
More than 20 I/O module types are available across the range, allowing stations to be built around a mix of digital, analogue, temperature, serial, counter, and pulse output requirements. The series includes 16- and 32-channel digital input and output modules, four- and eight-channel analogue modules, RTD and thermocouple modules, serial communication modules, high-speed counter modules, and pulse output modules.
Modular slice-type construction gives equipment builders a way to tailor I/O layouts without committing to a fixed block design. Detachable terminal blocks and push-in wiring are intended to reduce installation and replacement time, while IDC connectors provide a higher-density wiring option where panel space is at a premium.
The modules operate across an ambient temperature range of -10°C to +60°C and mount to DIN rails with mechanical and grounding connections. Gold-plated spring-loaded connectors provide module-to-module connectivity, while two power supply sizes are available for different I/O counts. Daudin said all models are CE and UL certified.
As more machines and production lines move towards distributed architectures, remote I/O has become a practical control layer rather than a peripheral addition. Broad protocol support gives the iO-GRID X range scope to connect into existing PLC, microcontroller, or host control systems without forcing a full control platform redesign.
