Aerotech opens laser laboratory at Fürth facility

Aerotech announces new laser laboratory in Fürth, Germany. The facility will enhance customer support by providing a space to test demanding laser processes. Aerotech’s expansion reflects a commitment to European clients, offering advanced testing capabilities and fostering closer collaboration with industries relying on precise motion control systems.

Aerotech is set to inaugurate a state-of-the-art laser laboratory at its Fürth location in early 2026. This strategic development aims to bolster support for European customers by facilitating the testing of complex laser processes. “The laboratory in Fürth will enable us to provide even better support to our customers in Europe,” stated Brian O’Connor, Vice President of Growth & Strategy at Aerotech. “Many companies want to test their processes under realistic conditions using our products. We are creating the right environment for this here.”

For over five decades, Aerotech has been at the forefront of high-precision motion control systems, serving sectors such as laser material processing, medical technology, and semiconductor manufacturing. Previously, the company relied on its U.S.-based laboratories for testing laser applications. The new facility in Fürth signifies a shift towards closer engagement with its European clientele.

“The new laboratory in Fürth makes this exchange much easier,” O’Connor added, highlighting the company’s consulting-oriented approach to developing customised solutions in motion control and automation.

The LaserLab will feature an array of Aerotech systems, including two-, three-, and five-axis laser scan heads, high-precision servo tables, and the Automation1 control platform. These tools are equipped with special functions for laser material processing, such as infinite field of view (IFOV) and position-synchronized output (PSO). Additionally, an ultra-short pulse laser from Light Conversion, capable of operating at multiple wavelengths, will be available. Supporting systems will enable the processing of diverse substrates and materials, catering to both standard and bespoke applications.

Target industries for the LaserLab include medical device manufacturing, electronics and semiconductor production, aerospace applications, and the watch industry. The integration of precision motion, laser scan heads, and automation platforms is specifically tailored to meet the stringent demands of these sectors.
