Advantech Edge IPC Qualified for AWS IoT Greengrass

Advantech, a leading global provider of intelligent systems and industrial edge computers, is excited to announce that its MIC-770 V2 modular fanless edge IPC, and the IPC-200 series Industrial PC that is widely used by equipment builders, are qualified for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Internet of Things (IoT) Greengrass — an IoT open source edge runtime and cloud service.

Building successful IoT solutions with Edge IPC and AWS IoT Greengrass

Advantech MIC-770 V2, IPC-220, and IPC-240 are validated by AWS as edge computers that can work on AWS IoT Greengrass software, that is to say, MIC-770V2 and IPC-220/IPC-240 could extend AWS functionality onto the edge, making it possible for local devices to act locally on the data they generate. This even includes TensorFlow, the dynamic language runtime (DLR) framework used to perform machine learning (ML) inference at the local edge that can also seamlessly interoperate with AWS IoT services. With Advantech Edge IPC, locally generated data can be analyzed and processed directly at the network edge using Linux-based OS using cloud-trained models. This helps original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their customers reduce latency and conserve network and computing resources, providing better, more responsive, robust intelligent services.

Advantech’s Edge IPCs are the most reliable high-performance platform

MIC-770-V2 and IPC-200 series both deliver high-performance computing, multiple front-facing I/O interfaces, compact form factors, and rugged designs for harsh industrial environment requirements as well as in-cabinet installations in limited space conditions. They can be widely deployed to support various industrial IoT and automation applications with tailored entry-level and high-end solutions. MIC-770-V2 is powered by a 10th generation Intel® Xeon®/Core™ i socket-type (LGA1200) processor with Intel® W480E chipset, offering excellent computing performance and flexible expandability using MIC i-Modules and Advantech iDoor modules, which are the best choice for compute and control solutions in diversified application scenarios. IPC-220 and IPC-240 are powered by 10th generation Intel® Core™ i socket-type (LGA 1200) processors with Intel® Q470E/ H420E chipset, providing flexible power design with 5 x VDC/2A and 12 x VDC/2A power outputs for external devices. Moreover, IPC-220/240 supports a wide power input range of 19 ~ 24 VDC, to overcome fluctuating power distribution supplies in factories.

Advantech industrial PC support diverse edge computing applications

MIC-770 V2 is a fanless and compact design modular IPC system that supports a wide range of power inputs (9 ~ 36 VDC), and operating temperatures of -10~60°C. MIC-770 V2 resists the problem of dust accumulation, greatly increasing product reliability and reducing equipment maintenance costs. The fanless design with a passive thermal solution also brings the advantage of silent operation. The ruggedized chassis design and cast aluminum heatsink offers vibration and shock protection, which means MIC-770 can be used in various environments, whether noise-sensitive in door environments or remote hazardous locations. It is ideal for applications such as autonomous cars, unmanned aerial vehicles, intelligent logistics and transportation. On the other hand, IPC-220 and IPC-240 are the smallest IPCs with high computing performance, multiple automation I/O and flexible PCIe/PCI expansion slots to support up to 4 add-on cards. They are often applied in machine vision, industrial equipment manufacturing, factory automation, and motion control applications and provide the best intelligent system solution for machine builders and the semiconductor industry. With the qualification of AWS IoT Greengrass, MIC-770 V2 and IPC-200 series can stably support more advanced and intelligent cloud and AI services with remote management at the network edge, helping Advantech’s customers provide more successful and competitive solutions and services.

Advantech’s MIC-770 V2, IPC-220, and IPC-240, are both qualified for AWS IoT Greengrass. To find out more about MIC-770 V2, IPC-220 and IPC-240 on AWS IoT Greengrass, please contact your regional Advantech sales team for more information.
