3D Prod acquires Sculpteo in France

3D Prod has acquired Sculpteo, returning it to French ownership. The combined additive manufacturing group will operate across prototyping, one-off production, and industrial-scale manufacturing, with a target of €20 million revenue by 2027.

3D Prod has acquired Sculpteo, bringing the digital manufacturing and 3D printing service provider back into French ownership and creating a larger additive manufacturing group with production sites in the Vosges and Île-de-France regions.

The deal combines 3D Prod’s industrial production capacity with Sculpteo’s digital platform, design expertise, and international customer base. Financial terms have not been disclosed, and the transaction is being advised by French law firm Lasserre Avocats.

Sculpteo was founded in 2009 and acquired by BASF New Business GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of BASF SE, in 2019. Its acquisition by 3D Prod brings together two French additive manufacturing companies at a point when service providers are trying to move beyond prototype work and secure more repeatable production applications.

The new group will employ 100 people and generate combined revenue of approximately €17 million, with a target of €20 million by 2027. It expects to produce more than 1.25 million parts annually for more than 7,000 corporate customers across automotive, aerospace, healthcare, design, and industrial markets.

Production will be split between Vosges and Villejuif, giving the group combined coverage across 62 countries. The companies also say the organisation will operate one of the largest HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printer fleets in the world, strengthening its capacity for polymer part production.

“Combining the offerings of both companies will give customers access to a broader portfolio of materials and services, delivering an even more comprehensive industrial 3D printing solution,” said Alexandre d’Orsetti, CEO of Sculpteo.

The combined business will cover rapid prototyping, one-off manufacturing, finishing, industrial series production, and access to plastic injection moulding expertise through Platex. That wider base gives the group a broader manufacturing offer than a pure online service bureau, particularly where customers need support moving from digital design into repeatable production.

The first phase of the plan will focus on commercial and production synergies, including better coordination between prototype development and industrial series launches. From 2027, the group plans to upgrade equipment across the Vosges and Île-de-France sites, recruit additional talent, and increase series production capacity.

“With this merger, we are giving ourselves the means to support the expansion of this sector by offering a complete range of services, from prototypes to large-scale production, to support French, European, and American manufacturers at every stage of their development,” said Quentin Kiener, President of 3D Prod.
