Syntech Biofuel has been awarded Made in Britain’s Environmental and Social Value Certification, adding third-party backing to its claims around domestic feedstocks, supply chain transparency, and local economic contribution.
The company supplies renewable fuel to customers across construction, infrastructure, and energy, with a product designed to replace diesel in existing engines without modification. Syntech says its advanced biofuel can cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 93% compared with conventional diesel, while being produced entirely from UK feedstocks.
The certification from Made in Britain recognises environmental responsibility, sustainable sourcing, and social value. For Syntech, it adds another layer of validation as contractors, operators, and procurement teams place greater weight on provenance and verifiable carbon claims when assessing alternative fuels.
Mike O’Lone, Director of Environment, Sustainability & Social Impact at Syntech Biofuel, said: “At Syntech, environmental and social value isn’t a bolt-on for us. It’s fundamental to how we operate.”
He said the certification independently validates the company’s work in producing low-carbon fuels from UK feedstocks with transparent supply chains, adding that Syntech can trace feedstocks back to their original source and provide full provenance across the supply chain.
That focus reflects a broader constraint in the UK biofuels market. Demand for lower-carbon fuels continues to rise, but domestic feedstock supply remains limited. Syntech has put local sourcing at the centre of its commercial offer, linking carbon reduction with traceability, local employment, and investment in skills.
O’Lone added: “The biggest commercial benefit is credibility. We’re a UK company making fuel in the UK. We employ and source our supply chain locally.”
Made in Britain said the certification is intended to help manufacturers evidence environmental and social performance through a recognised framework. John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain, said: “The ESV certification enables businesses like Syntech to clearly showcase their efforts to protect the environment, as well as supporting communities and strengthening UK industry.”
