Modutec buys EOS Europe majority stake

Modutec has bought a majority stake in electrical specialist EOS. The move extends the group’s in-house delivery model across inspection, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and project management for marine and energy customers.

Modutec has acquired a majority stake in EOS Europe Ltd, strengthening its electrical services capability as it builds out a broader turnkey offer across the energy and marine sectors. The deal brings the Aberdeen-based specialist into a group that has been steadily expanding through acquisition, with Modutec seeking tighter control of project delivery across design, fit-out, HVAC, piping, electrical systems, and technical building work.

EOS Europe has established its reputation in specialist electrical services, including hazardous area inspections, technical auditing, project planning, construction and installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance support, and design review. Folding those capabilities into Modutec’s existing operations gives the group a wider in-house delivery span at a time when clients in marine and offshore markets are looking to reduce interface risk between contractors and compress schedules on technically demanding projects.

The acquisition also fits a pattern. Modutec has already used earlier deals to deepen its HVAC and electrical reach, including the 2022 investment in Co-At Marine and the 2024 investment in SeaKing. With EOS Europe now joining the group, the business is pushing further towards a model in which more of the engineering, installation, and service work can be delivered under one organisational umbrella rather than handed across multiple subcontracted packages.

Brian Knowles, Managing Director of Modutec, said: “We are delighted to complete this deal, which brings together two highly complementary businesses and strengthens our capabilities across the energy and marine sectors. EOS’ established presence in Aberdeen adds valuable expertise to our group and marks an important step in expanding our in-house turnkey services.”

That Aberdeen footprint matters. EOS Europe has worked across the UK, USA, and Norway, and brings a base in a region that remains central to offshore operations, marine engineering, and energy transition activity. The company’s headcount is around 40, taking the wider Modutec group to roughly 540 people. For clients, the immediate consequence is less about the ownership structure itself than the prospect of more consolidated execution across project lifecycles, from planning and procurement through to commissioning and ongoing support.

EOS Europe Managing Director George McLeod will remain in post. The enlarged group’s challenge now is to show that acquisition-led scale can translate into cleaner project interfaces, stronger technical delivery, and more repeatable performance across marine, offshore, and energy programmes that leave little room for fragmented accountability.
