iconsys has launched GUARD, a dedicated OT cyber security offer designed to extend its role from controls integrator to full lifecycle industrial partner. The Telford company said the service spans consultation, assessment, protection, training, and ongoing resilience, targeting manufacturers under growing pressure to secure legacy automation estates without interrupting production.
The move pushes iconsys further into a market where compliance, uptime, and supplier assurance are converging. The company has delivered more than 5,000 automation projects across heavy industry, marine, offshore, and advanced manufacturing, and has backed the latest offer through agreements with OPSWAT for cyber software and Rhelative for risk assessment. It also builds on wider investment in a £3m smart factory in Shropshire and a broader shift into consultancy-led services including functional safety and site assessments.
That changing landscape is creating room for automation specialists that understand both plant operations and cyber controls. Rather than treating OT security as an overlay borrowed from office IT, iconsys is positioning GUARD around plant-specific tasks such as architecture review, access control, threat detection, recovery support, and operator training. The direction is clear enough: cyber services are becoming part of automation and support contracts, not an add-on once exposure has already increased.
As manufacturers face tighter obligations around resilience, reporting, and supply chain assurance, providers able to connect cyber requirements with installed control infrastructure are likely to gain ground. For integrators, the OT security market is moving closer to core service delivery rather than sitting at the edge of it.
