Vertiv has partnered with the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences (TVZ) to introduce a specialised Data Center Design program within the Electrical Engineering Department. This initiative is designed to prepare participants for careers in the data centre industry, contributing to Croatia’s and Europe’s digital future. The program addresses the increasing demand for skilled professionals within the burgeoning digital infrastructure market. Applications are currently open for the February session.
The program focuses on providing a comprehensive understanding of data centre design and optimisation, with an emphasis on power systems. Participants will engage in practical exercises, utilise software tools, and tackle real-world engineering challenges. This approach ensures that students can conceptualise, implement, and maintain systems that adhere to the highest standards of energy efficiency and safety.
Led by Associate Professor Dr. Stjepan Tvorić, the head of the Electrical Engineering Department, the program aligns with current industry needs and leverages the latest technologies in critical digital infrastructure. The collaboration with Vertiv grants students direct access to experienced experts in electrical engineering, data centre infrastructure, and power systems. The program targets electrical engineers and professionals from related technical fields seeking to enhance their expertise, focusing on technical proficiency and modern computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
Dr. Tvorić expressed enthusiasm about the program’s launch, highlighting its development in close cooperation with Vertiv, a global leader in digital infrastructure. This partnership offers participants insight into industrial processes and advanced technologies used in contemporary data centres. Dr. Tvorić emphasised the program’s role in addressing current engineering challenges and equipping participants with skills highly sought after in the job market.
Participants will design electrical installations and power systems using CAD tools, gaining hands-on experience in installation and maintenance. The program is funded through adult education vouchers from the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) as part of Croatia’s national education initiative, making it accessible to eligible candidates seeking to upskill for in-demand careers.
Vedran Brzić, Vice President for Infrastructure Solutions for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Vertiv, underscored the significance of the partnership. He noted the strong collaboration between Vertiv and TVZ, which has resulted in a data centre design studio in Rugvica. This studio provides students with real-world experience, enhancing career opportunities in a rapidly expanding sector. Brzić also highlighted the strong demand for data centre professionals across industries, with the initiative equipping students with the necessary skills to meet this demand.
