MIKROE has introduced the EnOcean 5 Click, a wireless connectivity Click board that significantly enhances bidirectional communication for EnOcean-based sensors, switches, and actuators. This innovative product is designed to cut development time and is part of MIKROE’s extensive portfolio of over 260 wireless connectivity Click boards.
Compact in design, Click add-on boards empower developers to swiftly move from proof-of-concept to prototyping and coding new embedded projects. MIKROE’s CEO, Nebojsa Matic, highlighted the board’s suitability for energy-efficient projects, stating, “This new Click board is ideal for developing energy-efficient dimmers, relays, and shutter controllers that rely on self-powered EnOcean switches.” Over 850 projects featuring the EnOcean 5 Click, complete with working code, are accessible on MIKROE’s EmbeddedWiki platform.
The EnOcean 5 Click is driven by the TCM 615 radio transceiver gateway module from EnOcean, offering a straightforward serial communication interface through EnOcean Serial Protocol version 3 (ESP3). It supports both reception and transmission of EnOcean radio telegrams on 868.3MHz using EnOcean Radio Protocol version 1 (ERP1), facilitated by its integrated 50Ω RF PCB trace antenna.
With a sensitivity of -95dBm and an output power of +10dBm, the EnOcean 5 Click ensures robust wireless performance in various environments. It includes advanced security features defined by the EnOcean Alliance, such as encryption, decryption, authentication, and replay protection. The board communicates with external devices via the industry-standard UART ESP3 interface, supporting baud rates of 57,600bps and 460,800bps.
This addition to MIKROE’s 1900-strong mikroBUS-enabled Click board family also incorporates the ClickID function, which allows automatic identification by the host system, streamlining usage. Compatible with any host system supporting the mikroBUS standard, these devices are accompanied by the mikroSDK open-source libraries, providing exceptional flexibility for evaluation and customisation.
